À partir du 23 mai, replongez dans un passé lointain au TERMINAL 1 de Brussels Expo. Imaginez-vous déambuler dans le tombeau de Toutânkhamon, contempler ses trésors de vos propres yeux, assister à sa momification et explorer la Vallée des Rois comme si vous y étiez vous-même. Dans Toutankhamon – L’Exposition Immersive, les visiteurs pénètrent dans un monde captivant de projections monumentales, de réalité virtuelle et d’artefacts authentiques, entièrement dédié à la vie, au tombeau et à l’héritage du jeune pharaon Toutânkhamon.
La production internationale a déjà attiré plus de 2,5 millions de visiteurs dans des villes telles que Madrid, Hambourg, Le Caire et Londres, et a été récompensée par trois Telly Awards. Depuis sa première à Madrid, l’exposition s’est imposée comme un véritable succès international. Au Grand Egyptian Museum du Caire également, l’expo a remporté un succès exceptionnel, avec six mois de programmation complets. L’exposition fait désormais escale à Bruxelles, où le TERMINAL 1 s’affirme comme un haut lieu des expériences culturelles internationales et innovantes et à la pointe de la technologie.
Un voyage à travers plusieurs millénaires
Déployée sur plus de 2 500 m², l’expo plonge les visiteurs au cœur de l’Égypte ancienne. Le cœur de l’exposition est une salle de vidéo-mapping colossale avec des projections à 360° atteignant huit mètres de hauteur. En six chapitres, elle dévoile l’histoire de la civilisation égyptienne, depuis les origines mythiques du monde jusqu’à la légendaire découverte du tombeau en 1922.
Vous suivez notamment le récit de l’archéologue Howard Carter, qui découvrit la tombe légendaire du jeune pharaon. Sa découverte prend vie grâce à des images d’archives et à un fragment audio. Cette voix, vieille de plus d’un siècle, confère à l’expérience une dimension authentique et singulière.
Une technologie qui vous transporte dans l’Égypte ancienne
Outre les projections à grande échelle, l’expo propose plusieurs installations interactives. Prenez place dans un fauteuil et vivez, en tant que Toutânkhamon lui-même, un voyage en réalité virtuelle à 360° à travers le mystérieux au-delà égyptien. Déambulez librement dans la Vallée des Rois via un métavers numérique, visitez le camp de fouilles d’Howard Carter et pénétrez dans le tombeau avec ses trésors, comme si vous vous trouviez vous-même en 1922.
De véritables artefacts : plus de 4 000 ans d’histoire
Au-delà du spectacle numérique, l’exposition présente également une sélection d’objets originaux et de répliques de haute qualité, répartis dans deux salles aux trésors. Parmi les pièces exposées figure notamment une statuette funéraire (chaôuabti) de la vingtième dynastie, ayant autrefois appartenu à la collection privée d’Howard Carter. On y trouve également des artefacts datant des époques de Ramsès II et Ramsès III, dont certains ont plus de 4 000 ans. Et bien sûr, vous pourrez admirer une réplique du sarcophage et du masque de Toutânkhamon.
L’exposition comprend aussi une installation de miroirs avec un Anubis ambulant, ainsi que des décors scéniques représentant le camp de tentes d’Howard Carter. En fin de parcours, vous pourrez prendre une photo souvenir dans un photobooth qui vous transforme en habitant de l’Égypte ancienne.
Toutânkhamon de près
En combinant la recherche archéologique et la narration numérique, l’exposition offre une expérience à la fois éducative et spectaculaire. Une attention particulière est accordée à l’homme derrière le mythe et à la quête scientifique de son histoire. À travers des anecdotes, des photographies de Harry Burton et des cartes du Griffith Institute, découvrez la « Toutankhamon-mania », les mystérieuses théories autour de Néfertiti et les énigmes non résolues de la Vallée des Rois.
Une bande-son spécialement composée amplifie l’atmosphère. Celle-ci a été créée par le renommé René Merkelbach et enregistrée avec un grand orchestre et un chœur.
Des éléments interactifs « Le saviez-vous ? » expliquent de manière ludique et accessible des notions telles que la momification, les hiéroglyphes, le panthéon égyptien et la vie quotidienne sur les rives du Nil, idéal pour les familles, les écoles et les jeunes.

In Tutankhamun – The Immersive Exhibition, visitors step into a captivating world of monumental projections, virtual reality and authentic artefacts — entirely dedicated to the life, tomb and legacy of the young pharaoh Tutankhamun.
This international production has already attracted more than 2.5 million visitors in major cities including Madrid, Hamburg, Cairo and London, and has been honoured with three Telly Awards. Since its world premiere in Madrid, the exhibition has grown into a global phenomenon. At the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo, the show was an exceptional success — running for six fully sold-out months. Now, the exhibition makes its stop in Brussels, where TERMINAL 1 continues to establish itself as a hotspot for large-scale, high-tech, and innovative international cultural experiences.
A Journey Through Millennia
Spread across more than 2,500 m², the exhibition fully immerses visitors in ancient Egypt. At the heart of the show is a colossal video-mapping hall featuring 360° projections up to eight metres high. Across six chapters, the story of Egyptian civilisation unfolds — from the mythical origins of the world to the legendary discovery of the tomb in 1922.
Among the stories told is that of archaeologist Howard Carter, who discovered the legendary tomb of the young pharaoh. His find comes to life through historical imagery and an audio recording. That voice — over a hundred years old — lends the experience a rare and remarkable authenticity.
Technology That Transports You to Ancient Egypt
Alongside the large-scale projections, the exhibition features several interactive installations. Take a seat and embark — as Tutankhamun himself — on a 360° virtual reality journey through the mystical Egyptian afterlife. Roam freely through a digital metaverse of the Valley of the Kings, visit Howard Carter’s excavation camp, and step into the treasure-filled tomb as though you are standing there in 1922.
Real Artefacts: Over 4,000 Years Old
Alongside the digital spectacle, the exhibition presents a selection of original objects and high-quality replicas displayed across two treasure rooms. Among the pieces is a funerary figurine (ushabti) from the Twentieth Dynasty, once part of Howard Carter’s private collection. Also on display are artefacts from the reigns of Ramesses II and Ramesses III — some more than 4,000 years old. And of course, visitors can admire a replica of Tutankhamun’s sarcophagus and iconic golden mask.
The exhibition also features a mirror installation with a Walking Anubis, and atmospheric set designs recreating Howard Carter’s camp. At the end of the trail, visitors can capture a souvenir photo at a photo booth that transforms them into an inhabitant of ancient Egypt.
Tutankhamun Up Close
By combining archaeological research with digital storytelling, the exhibition creates an experience that is at once educational and spectacular. Special attention is paid to the human being behind the myth and to the scientific quest to unravel his story. Through fascinating facts, photographs by Harry Burton and maps from the Griffith Institute, visitors discover the phenomenon of « Tut-mania », mysterious theories about Nefertiti, and the unsolved riddles of the Valley of the Kings.
A specially composed soundtrack, created by renowned composer René Merkelbach and recorded with a full orchestra and choir, enhances the atmosphere throughout.
Interactive ‘Did you know?’ elements explain concepts such as mummification, hieroglyphics, the Egyptian pantheon and daily life along the Nile in a playful and accessible way — ideal for families, schools and young visitors.

De internationale productie lokte al meer dan 2,5 miljoen bezoekers in wereldsteden als Madrid, Hamburg, Caïro en Londen en werd bekroond met drie Telly Awards. Sinds de première in Madrid groeide de tentoonstelling uit tot een internationale hit. Ook in het Grand Egyptian Museum in Caïro kende de expo een uitzonderlijk succes, met een volledig uitverkochte looptijd van zes maanden. Nu houdt de expo halt in Brussel, waar TERMINAL 1 zich verder profileert als een hotspot voor grootschalige, hoogtechnologische internationale en innovatieve cultuurbeleving.
Een reis doorheen verschillende millenniums
Verspreid over meer dan 2.500 m² dompelt de expo de bezoekers volledig onder in het oude Egypte. Het hart van de tentoonstelling is een kolossale videomappingzaal met 360°-projecties tot acht meter hoog. Daarin ontvouwt zich in zes hoofdstukken het verhaal van de Egyptische beschaving, van de mythische oorsprong van de wereld tot de legendarische ontdekking van het graf in 1922.
Je volgt onder meer het verhaal van archeoloog Howard Carter, die de legendarische tombe van de jonge farao ontdekte. Zijn vondst komt tot leven via historische beelden en een audiofragment. Die stem, die al meer dan honderd jaar oud is, geeft de ervaring een bijzondere authentieke dimensie.
Technologie die je naar het oude Egypte brengt
Naast de grootschalige projecties biedt de expo verschillende interactieve installaties. Neem plaats in een stoel en maak als Toetanchamon zelf een 360° virtual reality-reis door het mystieke Egyptische hiernamaals. Loop via een digitale metaverse vrij rond in de Vallei der Koningen, bezoek het opgravingskamp van Howard Carter en betreedt het graf met zijn schatten – alsof je zelf in 1922 staat.
Echte artefacten: meer dan 4.000 jaar oud
De expo toont naast het digitale spektakel ook een selectie originele objecten en hoogwaardige replica’s, verdeelt over twee treasure rooms. Onder de stukken bevinden zich onder meer een funerair grafbeeldje (sjabi) uit de twintigste dynastie dat ooit deel uitmaakte van de privécollectie van Howard Carter. Verder zijn er artefacten uit de tijd van Ramses II en Ramses III, waarvan sommige meer dan 4.000 jaar oud zijn. En natuurlijk krijg je een replica van de sarcofaag en het masker van Toetanchamon te zien.
Daarnaast is er een spiegelinstallatie met een Walking Anubis en scenische decors van het tentenkamp van Howard Carter. Aan het einde van het parcours kan je een souvenirfoto maken in een fotobooth die je transformeert tot inwoner van het oude Egypte.

De expo besteedt veel aandacht aan de mens achter de mythe en aan de wetenschappelijke zoektocht naar zijn verhaal. Aan de hand van weetjes, foto’s van Harry Burton en kaarten uit het Griffith Institute maakje kennis met de “Toet‑mania”, mysterieuze theorieën over Nefertiti en onopgeloste raadsels uit de Vallei der Koningen.
Een speciaal gecomponeerde soundtrack versterkt de sfeer. Deze werd gecomponeerd door de gerenommeerde Rene Merkelbach en opgenomen met een groots orkest en koor.
Interactieve “Wist je dat?”‑elementen leggen begrippen als mummificatie, hiërogliefen, Egyptische godenwereld en het dagelijkse leven langs de Nijl speels en begrijpelijk uit – ideaal voor gezinnen, scholen en jongeren.
