The Madeleine room is an exceptional venue in Brussels. It has a rich and prestigious past which started in the 19th century. First a covered market, then a community centre for the Brussels commune, it was also home to the Brussels Casino in its early years.
Brussels Expo took over management of the venue in 2015 and totally renovated and reorganised the room as a show hall.
The venue is greatly appreciated by the public for its conviviality and outstanding geographical situation in the centre of Brussels, just a stone’s throw from the Grand-Place and Central Station. It therefore offers practical proximity to public transport stops and several car parks.
Its architecture is also unique. The outer façade dating from the 19th century covered market conceals large doors which open directly onto the event space. The doors face the stage which is flanked by a double flight of stairs.
The Madeleine offers a bar in the ground floor area. It has a mezzanine and an additional room on the first floor, while the upper floors include a large professional kitchen, a catering area and several offices.
The venue can accommodate all types of events such as receptions, cocktail parties, conferences, presentations and seated dinners. The maximum seated capacity is 630 persons; the standing capacity is 1000.
The room is also modular, thanks to its system of partitions.
The large fire doors which open directly from the sidewalk provide good access for people with reduced mobility.
